The Problem

Few components of the website were not responsive and it was obvious when looked upon. And the speed of the website was also not upto the mark in mobile device at the rate it should be. Also the data lived in different databases with separate dashboards for different departments of the company. Also it was required to represent interesting content to users as per their past activities and preferences. The new platform also had to have a lot of integrations in them and filtering options that would let users be precious on their preferred material.
The older version was having low productivity as well as lesser user engagement. Also, they were running different sites for both mobile and desktop which was again creating issues in collecting data at one place and observing with proper dashboard and integration to enhance the sites as per objective. Also, the dashboard for editors was inefficient and required multiple submissions with facing errors and thus losing their productivity.
The Solution
Enhanced UX which would not only enlighten readers but also retain them to become avid readers. Our user experience team conducted sessions with the client’s team to understand their audience, preferences, and tested different design mockups and arrived at final conclusive design.
Backend was developed on WordPress with all necessary integration and easy to use dashboard for website admin. It was designed in a way to give full access to admin and control all major acts. Images were hosted on different CDN servers for load balancing so the pages can be loaded faster in mobile devices. Also features for editors were included for easy publishing and on the editing options.
The website design and migration coincided. While the design phase began, we used our expertise to analyze the existing database and content architecture and started mapping it with WordPress content architecture and database.
We also worked on creating custom plugins, setting up error pages, redirection, and more. We worked on hosting heavy files like images and videos on third-party servers so they can open smoothly without affecting the site’s visitors on load on the website servers.
WordPress’s intuitive interface and features like media library and post revisions helped the newsroom drastically improve its editorial workflow. The new CMS enables journalists to post news more quickly. The new WordPress site uses the Gutenberg editor. In addition to that, we migrated old content from the old site over to the new site and ensured that any old content, including media, works nicely with Gutenberg, after migration. Our team also carried out much required training to our client so that they can manage the website on their own, without the need of technical inputs.
To improve the quality of ads displayed on the website, we modified our ad strategy to serve high-quality ads without affecting the overall user experience. Also, the hosting was chosen with load balancing which would not let users lose interest in the website and keep them coming back. Our new WordPress-based DXP was mobile-first and served their mobile user perfectly fine.
After the redesign, the site became AMP compatible and started to serve page results with blazing fast speed. As a result, it boosted SEO and thus had a positive impact on user acquisitions as well as ad revenue.
